Garnitzenklamm
a spectacular gorge and nature experience in Hermagor | Möderndorf | Nassfeld
The Garnitzenklamm is a wonderful nature experience in the Carinthian Gail Valley. It is located close to Hermagor, near the village Möderndorf. Throughout history the Garnitzenbach has formed a 4.5 kilometer long gorge into the rocks of the Carnic Alps, creating a breathtaking natural monument.
Due to its hundering waterfalls, steep rock faces, emerald-green bays, spectacular rock formations as well as rare, protected plants, the gorge is one of the most beautiful in the Alps.
Dear visitors,
The Garnitzenklamm is currently still in its pre-season period.
Hiking through the gorge is permitted at your own risk until the official opening on 23 May. Please be aware that short-term closures may occur at any time due to rock clearance work (especially between 4 and 7 May) and ongoing forestry operations.
From 23 May onwards, the gorge will be officially open to the public again following maintenance and safety inspections.
We kindly ask for your understanding and look forward to welcoming you back to our beautiful gorge soon!
